It’s election time. Just a reminder.

For the November 5, 2024, Chicago elections, several key positions are up for a vote, including both local and national offices:

  1. Presidential General Election: Voters will select the U.S. President and U.S. Representatives.

  2. Illinois Legislative Seats: Includes Illinois State Senators and Representatives.

  3. Cook County Offices: Voters will elect positions such as the Cook County State's Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court, and County Commissioners.

  4. Judicial Positions: Includes elections for Illinois Supreme Court, Appellate Court, and Circuit Court judges, as well as retention votes for current judges.

  5. Metropolitan Water Reclamation District: Commissioners for this agency will also be on the ballot.

  6. Chicago Board of Education Election: For the first time, Chicago voters will elect 10 members to the Board of Education, a major change from the historically appointed body. Because this is the first time this position has been placed on the ballot, this guide may assist you in your assessment.

In addition to the candidates for these offices, there may be local referenda on various issues affecting Chicago and Cook County.
