New Chicago Tourism Destination “Karaoke on the Avenue”

opening soon in the Austin community.

Chicago, IL - Serial entrepreneur Shirley Fields has been awarded a $250K Invest South West Grant by the City of Chicago and as a new startup, she is committed to making change in her westside community.

She is a recent graduate of Entrepreneurs Academy’s Fast Launch Educational Entrepreneurship Training (FLEET) program. This 12-week program is designed to prepare entrepreneurs to fully launch their businesses. It is targeted to service the most underserved Chicago communities. Students learn the complexities and strategies of running a business, lean startup strategies, and how to focus their efforts efficiently, and develop a plan and budget.

Shirley was so determined to be successful that she completed the class twice. And, it is quite evident that her focused determination and hard work has paid off.

She is a real estate broker by day and at night she takes classes and networks so she can open up her event space called “Karaoke on the Avenue” located at 5234 West Chicago Avenue. Her vision is to offer her community a safe, clean and inviting place for dining and entertainment, as well as to become a go to spot as a part of the Chicago tourism scene.

Philip Fairweather, President and CEO of Entrepreneurs Academy states that, Shirley has taken advantage of both our training and mental health and wellness services specifically designed for entrepreneurs.  She understands that entrepreneurs of color experience completely different and more relentless stressors than the average entrepreneur. Shirley is an example of what perseverance and commitment means and the lengths a female and a person of color must go through to be successful. Go get ‘em. Shirley!! Entrepreneurs Academy got your back fam!!”
